| Program Focus |
TVET system in Maldives is a demand driven, accessible, beneficiary financed, and quality assured system that meets the needs of society and economy. However, the sector and system is at its infant stage, and is in an immense need for capacity building of the standard writers, trainers, and assessors especially in the area of competency-based training and assessment. Being comprised of islands scattered in the Indian Ocean, online delivery is the ideal method of reaching the communities in the islands of Maldives. The concept of competency-based training and assessment is quite new in Maldives, and hence acquiring knowledge and expertise on delivering TVET training online will be a huge asset for sustaining and expanding TVET system in Maldives. This delivery system may also be used as benchmark and model for countries or communities having the same topographical set-up as Maldives has.Research and development are essential factors in which continual improvement and innovations in TVET is realized and achieved. It supports TVET policy making, lifelong vocational skills development, and restructuring education and training systems in order to accommodate new demands created by the changes in the labor market. In today’s complex and changing environment, the challenge is to conduct research and development activities in order to enhance and strengthen the capabilities of TVET and cope with the rapid transformation of the society, ensuring its relevance and importance in the society.
Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), an apex body in TVET Sector in Nepal, is committed to the production of technical skillful resources to the nation. The resource of CTVET is not sufficient to cope with the demand of TVET in Nepal, therefore it is necessary to mobilize the private and community organizations in coordination with CTEVT. In this context, sharing the ideas and expertise with national and international institutions are very vital in human resource development in CTVET and in Nepal.
